Tanhaiyan Naye Silsilay Wala Ghar

From the first episode of Tanhiyaan Naye Silsilay I had a crazy suspicion in my mind about the house in which the drama is recorded. This suspicion has continued to increase each week and I finally thought I should blog about it. “So what’s your silly suspicion, Nadia?” you may ask. I have a feeling that the house shown is Marina Khan’s actual house. Ok, ok I know it sounds crazy but hey…it’s me!

I have this vague memory of seeing MK’s house in a TV show, morning show, or a magazine a long, long time ago and this house reminds me of it. I have a few pieces of evidence that may support my presumption.

Firstly, MK directed the serial so it’s very likely that the house used could be hers. Given that this was supposedly a low budget serial, it is very likely that MK chose to use her own house. Would she really have influence over these things? An interesting thing is that Zarak, the name of Shehreyar Munawar’s character, is actually the name of MKs brother. So I am assuming that this serial is close to MK’s heart and she incorporated some personal things into it.

The thing that gave rise to my suspicion was something that I saw just a few minutes into the first episode. In the kitchen, there is a Β ”meow” sign on the wall and a cat lurking around on the kitchen floor. MK has mentioned in many talk shows that she has cats. Also, her production company is called Fat Cat Productions/Animal House Productions.

In this picture, you see the "meow" sign on the wall and Chandni holding the cat.

The next thing was seeing an iMac in MK’s room. I have yet to see a drama in which you see a nice, fancy desktop computer being shown. Our dramas may show laptops and cell phones but never desktops. The iMac even had a personalized background with Zara’s picture. All I am saying is that it’s veryyyy likely that this computer may belong to MK.

In episode 11, there was a scene in the kitchen where Serena is trying Bibi’s chutney. MK grabbed a stool, sat down and started chatting. Next, she grabbed a spoon from a rack behind her. The way she just turned and grabbed it showed that MK knew exactly where things were. There was just something about her level of comfort with which she reached behind her and grabbed the utensil. It’s not just this one scene but MK seems very comfortable around the house in general. Call me crazy but that’s how I see it.

Some minor things which make me think that this house is actually lived in by people (not necessarily MK) and not just one of those generic houses used in every other drama are the sheer level of detail in each room, the uniqueness of the house, and the overall homeyness of the house. It’s not the biggest house we have seen in dramas, but it’s well decorated and cozy.

Notice the amount of detail in that room. From the stripped cushions to the decoration pieces on the table to the objects on the shelf, it seems unlikely that this much effort was made to make a random house/set look nice. Β Usually when we see living rooms in generic houses, you see some artwork on the walls, and blah-looking drapery and couches. Each room in the house also has a homey feeling. Just check out Farhan Uncle’s room. You can’t help but notice the well organized books on his shelf which are interrupted tastefully by picture frames. Details, details!

The room in which Serena and Zenia are staying in is outside of the main house which is quite unique. We usually see servant quarters separated from the house but never really proper rooms. It just shows that the house was designed with interest and only someone who intends on living there would show that much interest.

I tried emailing MK’s production company to see if they could tell me whether this house belonged to MK or not but they didn’t reply. I wish someone could tell me! It’s just one of those things that bothers you and doesn’t let you sleep at night (that’s an exaggeration).

Random post, I know. For all I know I am dead wrong.

you could possibly be right Nadia esp. the things hanging around in the kitchen – I noticed the meow sign too and wondered “whose house could it be?” and you are correct on how HOMELY it feels and I have also noticed that Marina does seem very comfortable around it.. Compare this house to Qabacha’s house and you can totally prove your point ;)

Nadia you come up with the most interesting stuff and you put in so much effort into these posts, bravo! You Know you may just be right. And Annie is so right if we compare this house to Kabacha’s the homely touch would be more apparent.

Not only she choose zarak’s(brother) name she has also taken a few of her friends she likes to work with like Mohammed ahmed the writer, her husband jalil akhtar in last episode., anoushey (sofia) is also MK’S friend and MR. FAYY( 3 dafa fayy) in first episode has also worked with marina in drama TUM SY KEHNA THA

    • Hey Iman,
Thanks for your comment. You’re right, she did include many of her friends in the drama. I personally feel that everyone did a great job!
Another thing I noticed was that in the episode where Iftikhar came to meet Aani and Farhan uncle they mentioned cities in Ontario (Mississauga, Ottawa etc). That had to be input from Marina Khan as I believe she resided in Canada for awhile.

  7. Zara AAMIR

I like this drama … I like qabacha . And his walking style. Hahah. I just wanted to know that is Zara really dead. Sorry. And will Zeenia marry zarak. And when will the next tanhaiyan start…πŸ˜ŸπŸ‘πŸ’¬πŸ˜„πŸ‘ͺπŸ™πŸ™
